Why user testing is important
Automated accessibility testing alone doesn’t always give you the complete picture of how accessible your media really is.
Here at the DAC we combine automated testing with user testing to really understand any accessibility issues. Each member of the team has a different type of disability and most use assistive technology to access computers.
User testing is useful for all your media, and in particular:
- Smaller sites
- Mobile and tablet devices
- Games consoles
Our user testing teams
Our user testing team test in line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v2.0 and 2.1, to ensure maximum ease of use for people with visual impairments, dyslexia, mobility impairments and learning disabilities.
By seeing first-hand what problems our testers encounter, you will have a much better knowledge of how to factor in accessibility at each stage of the design, and how to spot check your live website for accessibility issues. We will talk to you about free tools to help you.
As with all our services, we encourage you to participate in the testing. You are welcome to provide scripts, and we can produce a captioned video of the test day at a small additional cost.
At the end of the testing, we will provide you with a thorough report which includes screenshots of any issues and recommendations for fixes.
