Winner of the South Wales Evening Posts Charity of the Year
DAC are proud supporters of The South Wales MS Therapy Centre (SWMSTC) external website
SWMSTC in Swansea was set up as a registered charity 30 years ago, initially to treat MS sufferers with High Dosage Oxygen Therapy (H.D.O.T). Now the science is understood this use of Oxygen is expanding rapidly around the world. The treatment involves breathing pure oxygen at 1.5 to 2.5 times normal atmospheric pressure for an hour a day. The conditions treated include:
- Diabetic Ulcers
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Ligament and Muscle damage
- Cancer Rehabilitation
- Cerebal Palsy and
- other neurological conditions
The therapy centre also provides physiotherapy, reflexology, acupuncture amongst others and does not receive any Government funding and relies entirely on its own fund raising efforts.
Due to increased demand on these services, a new centre is planned, planning permission has been granted, land acquired and a Moving Soon appeal launched. This includes a 'Buy a Brick' scheme where people can buy one for £5, Bronze bricks for £100, Silver for £250, Gold for £500 and Platinum for £1000. All major contributors will be displayed in the new centre.
Donations can be made through Virgin Money Giving external website on the Charity's website.
