To achieve certification each website undergoes a manual technical compliance review against WCAG 2.1 to level AA.

The site underwent both a technical compliance audit and robust end to end testing by users with a wide range of disabilities including blind, low vision, dyslexia, colour blindness, mobility impairments, learning difficulties, Deaf, Asperger and anxiety and panic disorder.

All testing is carried out in line with relevant platform specific guidelines, and where applicable, conforms with The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. Testing also conforms to Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Below is a list of issues currently found on the last accessiblity test of the Manolo Blahnik Main Website by the DAC. (See Scope of Testong below.) 

High Priority WCAG Level A

  • The Main Navigational Menu was not activatable by Screen Reading Software.
  • Keyboard focus could be moved onto non-displayed elements.
  • Some Dialog Popups were not Modal.
  • Some Dialog Popup Layers do not get Focus Automatically.
  • Some Focusable Elements did not have an indicator to advise they were currently focused.
  • Occasionally, Labelelements were used inapproperiately.
  • Mandatory fields might not have an indicator to advise that they are required.
  • Some Error Messages did not advise in text which input they related to.
  • Decorative images were found that had alternate text.
  • The Calendar Widget has a number of issues.
  • Nested Active Elements were found.
  • Some items have an Incorrect ARIA role.
  • A few Description List not marked up correctly.
  • The "Shop Now" button on the "Be Inspired" Carousel is not read to screen reader users.

Medium Priority WCAG Level AA

  • There were some Non-Text Colour Contrast Issues.
  • The Loading message is not reasd out to screen reader users.
  • When Text Spacing is appied, some elments do not change.
